Higher Distance
Higher Distance is a perspective of watching something somewhere down below, one of the traditional Chinese painting methods --Three Distance created by the artist Guo Xi of Northern Song Dynasty. From this point of view, your eyes can’t estimate the height of the object, thus lure and breakthrough the imagination.
The shape of the Higher Distance chandelier symbolizes the shape of the mountains half-hidden by the mists and clouds. Calligraphy like shape extended in front of the eyes to the ceilings, painted with gradient colors from forest green, sky blue, turquoise to transparent. On the top placed the humidifiers, which produce mists symbolizing the clouds, like a mountain that reached the heavens. The plant’s cell walls like texture were man-made, adding a warm touch to the acrylic slices. The light lightened up the vivid gradients, while the position of the light also represented the sun shining above the mountains. And last, elegant shadows of lines were created on the surroundings, enfolding the audience in a pleasant forest dream. By this design we hoped it could bring an innovation on what we felt of light, and help people relax in the busy urban life nowadays.
